In conjunction with any department of theatre there is a need for Scene shop. This is typical in any academic B.A., B.F.A., M.F.A. program. This is also the lab where scenery and props/properties are fabricated, painted and assembled for a theatrical production.
The Maker Spaces in the Department of Engineering at James Madison University (JMU) are distributed throughout the four floors of the Health and Human Services building on JMU’s East Campus. Maker Spaces support engineering courses and project work, and consequently, the equipment and spaces are generally shared spaces that can be leveraged by engineering courses, labs, project work, and research activities.
FABWorks is a MakerSpace located at University of California Irvine in the Calit2 building, Room 2302. It was built in order to expand experiential learning opportunities for students and the local community for hands on rapid prototyping and advanced manufacturing tools and processes.
The RSL/CREST facility hosts resources for students to work on research and design projects involving the development and field operation of systems such as nanosatellites, marine robots, land rovers, and aerial robots.
Designed as an educational makerspace, The MAKE Lab supports College of Education students in exploring the instructional issues of integrating inexpensive technologies to facilitate brainstorming, tinkering, playing, learning, and art creation that support multidisciplinary learning.
the MILL will support teaching and learning with new digital fabrication technologies, framing Indiana University’s School of Education as a leader in the maker education movement by offering a dedicated space to come and learn, teach, and research through making in this space, as well as existing community outreach programs.
The Crafts Center at Tufts University, an entirely student-run arts and crafts makerspace, was founded by a group of undergraduate students in the fall of 1979 interested in creating an environment in which students could actively express their creative and artistic interests and talents in an informal setting.
