Maker Corps was designed to meet the demand for human capacity in youth serving organizations eager to embed making into their programs. The program was launched in 2012 at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) America Conference as a commitment to train and place over 1,000 Corps members across all 50 states by 2015. Each Maker Corps cadre is a new workforce that is constantly learning, working collaboratively, and infusing new energy into established youth serving organizations. In 2013 alone, its impact was substantial; Maker Corps served over 90,000 children and families by placing 108 Maker Corps members in 34 youth serving organizations across 19 states. Maker Corps engages Host Sites and Maker Corps Members throughout the spring and summer, bringing them together through a private, online Google+ Community and leading them through a Development Camp complemented by a Possibility Box filled with tools and resources.
